SAF Named One of California’s Coolest

Phillips 66’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), produced at the Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex, has been recognized as one of the Top 4 Coolest Things Made in California. This recognition shines a spotlight on the innovation driving California’s manufacturing industry and the impact SAF is already making in the transition to cleaner energy.

Why SAF Stands Out

Our SAF is made from renewable feedstocks and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. It’s already powering flights for major airlines, proving that sustainable solutions can scale and make a real difference. Making the Top 4 highlights both the innovation behind SAF and the commitment of Phillips 66 to building a lower-carbon future.

What the CMTA Vote Is

The Coolest Thing Made in California contest is organized by the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA), a statewide group that represents manufacturers and works to strengthen California’s manufacturing economy.  The contest’s goal is to highlight the wide variety of innovative products made in the state and to remind the public of the vital role manufacturing plays in California’s economy. Through public voting, CMTA also aims to spark pride and engagement around these homegrown innovations, ultimately shining a spotlight on the companies and workers driving the state forward.
